Born in Las Vegas, NV. in 1962, swank-time for Vegas
(Rat Pack era) where casinos began to flourish in a
small desert town. It seemed natural at the time to
hear the casino sounds, like slot machines, while getting
a Slurpee at the local 7-11 just down the street from
my house. I look back now and think how tacky that
was.
Early in life, I could get lost and dissappear
for hours with paper, pencil and crayons, being totally
emersed in creating crappy little kid drawings! But those
crappy little kid drawings lead to something. You see,
there are quiet a few artists in my family. Graphic designers,
fine artists, resident painters and art directors. My
nephew David is in his second semester of college pursuing
special effects for movies and film. I can see that my
daughter also has an artistic gift and I will do everything
it takes to cultivate that.
I began my career as a newsroom illustrator for The
Arizona Republic after graduating from Colorado Institute
of
Art in 1982. Winning several awards in The Society of
Newspaper Design for illustration, Best of the West and
the Arizona Press Club, I called it quits in the corporate
world
after
20 years.
My wife and I have four wonderful children, ages 6 to
16. I am now painting and chasing my life long dream.
I have been building and planning this
site for sometime now. Robiam.com replaces my old site
pixelbahn.com.
A good friend and I started pixelbahn in 1997 as
a
co-portfolio site. I will update robiam with new
illustration and paintings on a regular basis. I hope
you enjoy.
